Best Double Glazing Company In Milton Keynes

If you’re reading this, then you may have searched the term: ‘Best double glazing company in Milton Keynes‘.

Basically, before replacing my windows and doors in my new home, I decided to call 3 companies providing double glazing in Milton Keynes and 3 national companies.

Excluding the velux windows, I needed 9 windows replacing, a front door and a back door.

Price was not a major issue, but like anyone, I didn’t want to pay over the odds for the sake of making a few extra calls.

My findings were extremely interesting and quite frightening. All of the national companies came in at least 35% more than the local companies:

Cheapest Local Company: £5,200 including VAT

Most expensive national company: £12,845 including VAT

So why do the national double glazing companies charge more ?

• Large head offices

• More office based staff

• Salesmen on high commission

• PPC on Google/Advertising/Promotions

• Advertising in national newspapers/magazines

The local company, which was also the cheapest, used the same products as the most expensive national company, apart from the front door.

The benefits of using a local family run business, is that if there are any issues, they are just a stones throw away. The down side, is that the chance of them going out of business may be higher than an established national company. Apart from that, I could not find any other positives to choose the national companies. The whole sales process was incredibly sharkey, inconsiderate and all about the sale. One national company started at £15,000 and before he left my house, the final price if I paid the deposit on the day was £8,500. How can you take £7,500 off over the course of 45-60 minutes? Obviously, it’s all a game to me but I can see many elderly people falling for these extortionate prices that are reduced to encourage a deal on the day.

Bottom Line

Go with a local company that has been established for at least 5-10 years and has a portfolio of testimonials and example pictures of previous jobs they have completed in the past.
